Go Nats! and Chumados...

So Jay and I went to the Nat's vs. Pirates game last night (we eventually won 3 - 2). We were sitting in a box at RFK. Who knew RFK had "luxury boxes"? and by luxury I mean that it was 900 degrees outside and the heat was on and blasting inside. I have been coming to this stadium since I was (please say in an Irish accent) a Wee Little One, and had no idea this land above the seats exhisted. I bet it was all fancy pants back in the day. But anyway, it was catered with some tasty grub, had lots of beer, soda and water, a great wait staff and was free, so I'm not complaining in the least.

TV Guide was hosting some marketing people from the Discovery Networks and I was lucky enough to be invited. And, Jay is lucky enough to know me, he he...Anyway, the game was in a major rain delay for about an hour, actually longer due to the grounds crew's performance, or should I say lack there of. The Nat's really need to get on hiring some more help out there. They barely had enough people to pull the tarp over the field. They couldn't get the tarp over the third base line and then when it came time to get the tarp off of the field and folded back up it was like watching an episode of Benny Hill. Okay, without the women in their underwear but the super speed and the music were there man! You could just feel it! And they even ended up utilizing the "man" power of the ball girls and parking attendants from outside the stadium. It was a riot.

Anyway, it was all kind of fun b/c I have never experienced a rain delay in person and let me tell you, if your going to experience one it is best done when you have protection from the rain and food and drink to keep you busy. So, enjoy some pic's from the game and remember to cheer on the Chumados tonight the way we cheered on the Nat's last night!

Happy Birthday Rommel!

Yes, today is Rommel's Birthday. We got together yesterday at his, Sylvia and Nicholas' new home to celebrate. It was a lovely day and we all got to check out the new casa.

This week the Chumados play at 8pm at Cabin John field #4. We'll be playing the Marriott Cheez team and looking for a win. Last week's loss was enough losing for the Chumados this season. We will most likely either not get together after the game, depending on the time, or we'll be at Ledo's Pizza close to the field. Here are directions to the game, we need all the support we can get so please come out to cheer us on:

Directions:
Cabin John Regional Park (Westlake Drive)
Take the Beltway west from Silver Spring to I-270 north.
Take the Old Georgetown Road exit - Bear right onto Old Georgetown Rd.
Go left onto Tuckerman Lane, then left onto Westlake Drive.
Make a right into the Ice Rink parking lot, follow around to the right and find the appropriate field.

We hope to see you this Thursday! Until next time...

Sadness... Posted by Hello

The Chumados got spanked last night...The streak has come to an end, BUT we are not letting it bother us (sniff, sniff) we are going to get our strong team back together and get back into the winning thing. Let me tell you, losing doesn't feel good, especially to a team that you have a) beaten before, and b) you know are not as good as you. But, we'll get past this. And we did, at the Pub last night. Thanks to "Cheap Seats" for the much needed "loser" shots!

Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer us on and all of the Chumado's who stepped in to sub for the players that weren't there to play this week. Everyone played with a lot of heart, most notably, Freddy who slid not once, but twice - FACE FIRST! Let me tell you, there was a lot of blood lost on the field this week, literally...

Okay, well we'll be back in action next Thursday. I will post field location and directions next week. Until then, enjoy your weekend and get a little chumado for me!

Well the Moreno's have been busy as usual. We celebrated Edgar's 50th birthday on Saturday at Pokey and Robert's house and then Father's Day on Sunday at Irene and Edgar's house. A great time was had by all.

Some very important news that was left out a few months back needs some much needed recognition. Matthew Davis graduated from FSU in May. He brought home a degree and four years worth of laundry. We are all very proud of him and look forward to his future endeavors. We know he will do great in whatever path he takes. As of now, the word on the street is a career in politics. We look forward to the confirmation from MP on his final decision. Please make sure to shake his hand when you see him, no protests will be made if there happens to be a little bit of cash in your hand while doing so.

Monday Robert and Pokey left for their trip to Norway. They will return on Monday, June 27th and June 29th respectively. We hope they have a wonderful time on their trip. We will miss them at this week's game, and we are all praying that Rita and Tori don't beat each other up before their return. Can't we all just get along?

Our good friend Adrienne Haitz, former Chumado, is in town visiting on her way to New York to shoot some new commercials for a local car dealership. She is living in Venice Beach in Los Angeles and working her little butt off. She was recently on a new episode of "Nuts for Muts" on the Animal Planet network. Look for her on many projects to come. Unfortunately the car commercials from New York are not aired in our area. Adrienne was at Edgar's on Sunday but will be heading out of town this Thursday, heading to NY and then back to LA. She says hello and she misses everyone!

Our little Tracy, while not hurt badly, was in a bit of an accident on Sunday. While crossing the street in front of her Bethesda apartment she was hit by a vehicle. Thankfully not going very fast and the occupants were EMT's that quickly got out of the vehicle to check her out. She was taken to the hospital and released bumped, bruised and very shaken up but with no broken bones. We're all thinking about Tracy and hoping she has a very speedy (no pun intended) recovery. We have to thank her ninja like reflexes for keeping her safe. Tracy can even take on a car...remember that gentlemen!

In Chumado's News: We have won our 7th game in a row now! Last week's game against the Holy Cross Hospital Team was very tight and tested our skills but once again the Chumado's prevailed! Now, we're looking for win number 8. Can we do it? Will we show the league what we're made of? Please come cheer us on this Thursday, June 23rd at 7:15pm at Aspen Hill field #2 (5013 Baltic Avenue)

Directions:
Take the Beltway to Georgia Ave towards Wheaton
Follow Georgia Avenue and bear left onto Veirs Mill Rd
Follow Veirs Mill approx. 4 miles and turn right onto Aspen Hill Rd
Make your immediate left onto Adrian St.
Follow this around to Baltic Ave
Fields are on your left

We hope to see you all on Thursday. Go CHUMADOS!
